After a 99 day lockout that felt like the coldest and darkness winter in the history of all winters, we will finally have meaningful baseball today. It may have been painful, but we are finally where we want to be. Let the games begin!
Every year, my brother and I make our season predictions. We developed a scoring sheet called “The Sheet of Integrity”. The scoring system is as follows:
1 point for each team in the correct spot in the standings.
10 points for AL and NL MVP.
10 points for AL and NL CY.
10 points for AL and NL ROY.
30 points for ALCS ( 10 pts. for each team, 10 for the correct winner).
30 points for NLCS ( 10 pts. for each team, 10 for the correct winner).
30 points for the World Series ( 10 pts for each team, 10 for the correct winner).
10 points for World Series MVP.
For a tie breaker, 1 point will be awarded if the person can guess the correct number of games in the ALCS, NLCS, and the World Series (Correct teams need to be in these matchups to earn the extra points.
Each entry can earn up to 193 points.
Without further ado, here are my predictions for the 2022 season. Last year, about the only thing I guessed correctly was the Braves winning the World Series. Let’s see if I can pick the winner again.
Yes, I am a Red Sox fan, but I do see the game for what it is. The Blue Jays are loaded with talent and adding Matt Chapman, Kevin Gausman, and Yusei Kikuchi turns this club into the team to beat in the American League. Last year’s top teams in the A.L. all took a step backwards in my opinion. The Blue Jays may have some tiny flaws but their offense will cover them up. They will also have the opportunity to add payroll in the middle of the season to sure up their bullpen. I believe the national audience is about to see how talented and deep this Blue Jays roster is in 2022. If it happens, it would be the first title for the Blue Jays in 29 years!
Enjoy Opening Day! The first pitch of the 2022 season will be thrown by Kyle Hendricks as the Milwaukee Brewers take on the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field at 2:20 ET. I am so excited that baseball is back!!
