I will agree with middle of the order bat and preferably a right handed hitter. And yes Mike is under team control for some years but what concerns a lot of teams is the medicals and injury history. Trading for a Trout would take a deal that would include some of your top 5/6 prospects and may require a Casas a Rafaela a Whitlock so for me as a GM running this Red Sox team I would pass on Mike. Red Sox have come to far the last several years with minor league system and actually graduating several of them the last few years to deplete what they have. Dave Dembrowski depleted enough when trying to bring titles to Boston. I wouldn’t doubt if Trout is moved to a corner outfield spot next year or the next. I will pass on him as much as I like him but it’s a business deal that I don’t see me making

I don't disagree. Would I trade a Rafaela, Whitlock, and Yorke for what could be an elite bat? Yes, I still think I would. That might not get the deal done but if Boston were to take on all of the money, I don't see LA getting as much in return.

Put aside an actual package for Mike it’s the injury history that scare teams especially at his age with all those yrs left. I like don’t love where the Player Development is. I believe there was and is an issue from ownership down to scouting. There should be a process in a Big League front office that enables not only the decision makers but levels below that to view and effectively discuss there team. Every team in the Big Leagues has Data management staff pending on the Organization and the size of staff. Without getting into and explaining 100% there is three principles of Data management 1. Standardization 2. Centralization and 3. Integration it’s a system that enables all front office staff to see and get the same info efficiently and fast. Coaching,Player Evaluation, Player Development and other functions for example. I believe with this club this season the whole front office were on different pages when it came to info as a whole which ever info. There needs to be a shake up in several departments and get the right people in there. There is way way more than just fielding nine guys and playing a game that nite. I have studied sports Data Management to Statistical Analysis and throw in there Computer science work and my concern or even better is I would like to know how Centralized the Red Sox data is in the Organization. Sorry man a little tough to understand but maybe you can now understand why it bothers me with people on X when they have absolutely no clue.

Yea I'm not going to act like I know all of the inter-workings of a front office. It does take more than 9 to win. But they lose focus on the big league roster.

It may seem like they do at times but there is always a Team model in place but this season the question was whims Team model was it? Blooms? Or Henry? Even Kennedy? They had intention of going big during deadline that’s what the fans don’t wanna understand and. I get it from there end. Buts it’s a business unfortunately first now and most of those X people have absolutely no idea what goes into this and all the responsibility of all the different titles in which I mentioned earlier there info should be Centralized. Don’t expect a lot of major fan aspiring deals this winter. No matter whom they do business with they will still be a 4 th place team next year. 2025 is the year a move in standings happens a significant move.

I don't think fans want to hear another rebuilding year but if significant progress is made, I think most would be excited.

Have to have a system in place. Are there exceptions? Of course sure there is but in the last 20 years look at the Giants,Cubbies,Royals,Astros,St Louis they built within system made some deals for vets to fill in spots and bring some clubhouse leadership and had 5 yrs of success. In MLB every teams plan revolves around a 5 year plan. Example you own a business and u started it from scratch and you hired 20 people from the start over the next two years you hired a few with a history and or experience in your business type and you had a lot of success for 5/6 years, well after seeing some numbers go down and business may be slipping in some areas you decided it was time to bring in some fresh younger employees that you have groomed and or taught the business well now your in a rebuild. Baseball is a business first at some point a roster has got to be changed due to many variables. I get fans wanna win,and a front office does to but they are realistic. A GM when asked over the winter say in Boston by the media is asked “Do we have a postseason team?” A GM isn’t going to say “Nope” he will always say something positive that the fan base wants to hear and or deflect the attention of the question. I believe in Boston with the type of fan base and media a GM when asked should give more of an honest answer. Meaning when asked about postseason he should direct the answer to how young the team is ,the experienc of the team, learning to play and win together at the Big League level in front of 30 plus thousand a nite and so on. You can’t win every game like a fan thinks every Big League team will win 60 games and lose 60 games it’s the 40 or so games the GM has to win with his leadership and knowledge.
